LIA, or Low-intensity Aerobic exercise is the second part of the three necessary pieces of keto fitness. This one is very simple to explain.
Walk.
For an hour or so.
Two to three times per week.
And that’s it.
You get all the benefits of the aerobic exercises (like running, biking, swimming, etc.) without the struggle to maintain a certain pace, and running the risk of injury. Your heart and lungs get a workout, but without the intensity and stress.
This almost seems to easy, or too good to be true, but it really isn’t. Walking is a fantastic way to help lower blood pressure, lower blood triglycerides, decrease stress, increase mental focus, improve aerobic capacity, and a host of other things.
But mostly, it’s a great way to think about things that you want to think about. All day long, most of us have to think about things that other people want us to think about, whether they are our kids or our bosses or our spouses or friends. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it is nice to have some time where you can just concentrate on things you want to think about. If you like walking with a friend, it’s a great time to catch up on the events of the day and bond.
If you incorporate this into your schedule, you’ll see results (or at least feel them) quickly.
And you’ll wonder why didn’t do it sooner.
